Every date is handled as a whole calendar day, so daylight saving changes can never push a result off by one. Leap years are built in: from February 28 to March 1 is 2 days in 2024 and 1 day in 2023.
The years, months and days breakdown counts whole months first and then the leftover days, using the same month-end rule as adding months. That means adding the result back to the start date always lands on the end date.
In the time tab, an end time earlier than the start time is treated as the next day, which is what you want for a night shift from 22:30 to 06:00.
Should I include the end date?
Leave it off to count the gap between two dates (Monday to Tuesday is 1 day). Turn it on when both days count, like a hotel stay you pay for each day of, or an event that runs from the 1st to the 5th inclusive (5 days).
What is January 31 plus one month?
There is no February 31, so the result moves to the last day of February: February 29 in a leap year and February 28 otherwise. The same rule applies to any month that is shorter than the day you start from.
How are business days counted?
Business days are Monday to Friday. Weekends are skipped, but public holidays are not, because they differ by country. Without the end date option, the start date counts and the end date doesn't.
How is exact age worked out?
Whole months are counted from your birth date first, then the leftover days. So on the day before your birthday you are still the lower age with 11 months and a few days. People born on February 29 get their birthday on February 28 in common years.
